If you’re the sort of person who says pizzas, burgers and kebabs are nothing compared to the joys of crispy batter and flaky fish then your dreams are about to come true.
Seafood giant Young’s is advertising for the “world’s first fish and chip taster” to join its team right here in Grimsby.
The firm is looking for a “new cod on the block” to help perfect its new Young’s Chip Shop Omega 3 Fish Fillets, along with the rest of the popular Chip Shop range.
It may sound as easy as shooting fish in a barrel, but the ideal candidate really needs to be “living and breathing the love of the chippy”, with their very ‘sole’ positively illuminating at the merest suggestion of being paid to feast on delicious seafood.
Simply adoring Grimsby’s most beloved food isn’t quite enough though, with Jason Manley, head of frozen brand marketing at Young’s, explaining that the firm is looking for “someone with a bubbly personality to match our batter, and a crisp take on what makes the perfect battered fish”.
He added: “We’re searching for Britain’s most passionate fish and chip connoisseur, who knows delicious fish and has a desire to try fantastic new products.
“This is an incredibly important hire for us – we’re expecting to trawl through boatloads of applications!”
If it all sounds like a dream, it gets even better as the job is "extremely flexible" and you barely have to leave the house as it’s based at your home with one introductory day at Young’s headquarters in Grimsby.
Young's Chip Shop range includes everything from fish fillets to fish cakes
The only catch, if you can even call it that, is that you’re basically paid in fish with your salary comprising of a selection of Young’s products for tasting along with £50 worth of Young’s vouchers with each of the four deliveries you’ll receive each year.
Of course, being able to officially put Chief Chip Shop Taster on your CV without it being a joke is the icing on the cake, or the vinegar on the chips as it were.
So, what exactly will you be doing? These are the responsibilities and required qualifications:
- Living and breathing the love of the chippy
