You could own Only Fools and Horses themed coffee company - and it's quirky

A budding barista is being given the chance of a lifetime to taken on one of Hull’s quirkiest coffee businesses.

An opportunity has arisen after the entrepreneur who launched a mobile coffee company using an iconic three-wheeled vehicle made famous by Only Fools and Horses is selling up.

Cushty Coffee is a mobile coffee company housed in a distinctive yellow Only Fools And Horses-style Reliant Regal, which was launched by businessman Nick Andrew in 2015.

Complete with a state-of-the-art espresso machine, coffee grinder and even a stainless steel sink, Mr Andrew has been taking the vehicle to festivals, weddings and motorshows across the country.

But Mr Andrew, whose past ventures include local events company Hullywood Entertainment, says family commitments means he is reluctantly looking to pass on the business, preferably by hiring the van out.

He said: “I have had it for a while but really only went out with it for a year but it was incredibly successful at the right events.

“People were really attracted by the car’s uniqueness so it always got customers.

“But it is a big commitment and when you have young children it can be difficult as you have to work weekends.

“It has so much potential for the right owner.

“As well as coffee, I served other hot and cold drinks and things like muffins and cakes. The next step would be to serve hot food as well."

Mr Andrew admits he would prefer to hire out his vehicle rather than sell it outright.

He said: “I spent around £20,000 kitting out the car and trailer with all the right equipment. This would be great for someone in or looking to get in the catering trade.

“It would also work really well for someone looking to change career and do something completely different.

“It is a lot of hard work but the rewards can be fantastic.

“It would be nice to keep the vehicle and hire it out but I would need someone to commit for at least 12 months."

Mr Andrew is no stranger to the power of quirky ideas.

The long-time Star Wars fan founded Hullywood Entertainment to provide classic movie cars and costumes to parties and corporate events.

His success prompted him to expand into events including the popular Movie Buffs Collectors Fair and retro and vintage fair. But he has now changed careers to spend more time with his family.
