Trenton launches IT support business in Hull

The director of a new IT support company launched by Hull-based car retailer Trenton has pledged it will not become “the monster at the end of the phone.”

Jon Grubb, operations director at Trenton Business Systems, said the new business was devoted to excellent customer service, and promised it will not fall into the trap of taking on too many clients in its early stages.

The new company in Henry Boot Way, west Hull, offers both day-to-day IT support and maintenance services, and IT strategies to help companies invest efficiently in their digital presence.

Mr Grubb said: “Our vision is to take Trenton’s ethos of customer service in the motor industry, and apply it into the IT sector.

“We want to have a bit more of a personal touch with our customers. Some companies can end up being the monster at the end of the phone.

“It is about building relationships. We do not want to rush and take on more clients in our early stages than we can manage."

Mr Grubb has worked at Trenton as the group’s IT manager since last year, but the company has now taken the decision to expand into the sector.

Trenton has been established for more than three decades, and now has four dealerships across Hull, East Yorkshire, Grimsby and North East Lincolnshire.

The new IT business got up and running in early April, and is now on the hunt for new clients as it pushes forwards.

Mr Grubb said: “We currently have a small team, but are hoping to take on a new member in the next six months.

“I think we will be different to what else is out there at the moment. We will make sure our customers do not just become another invoice number.

“A lot of companies do everything over the phone, because it is cheaper and easier, but we will be going out to customers and working with them to help them get what’s best for them.”

The director said the company had spent completing “the boring jobs” such as setting up bank accounts and VAT numbers, and was now ready to press on and make its mark in Hull.

Trenton Business Systems will also work with IT security, ensuring customers are safe and secure when online. “We will also offer back-up services and disaster recovery support,” Mr Grubb said. “There are other IT support companies in Hull, as there are in every city and town across the country, but we are confident we will be able to stand out from the crowd.”
