Luxury homes are to be built at a leafy site on the edge of an East Yorkshire village.
Work has now started at North Cave on the first phase of a new development of 36 homes. The development, on the south side of Church Street, will include eight affordable houses.
Award-winning house builder Duchy Homes says it plans to build “a sophisticated collection of houses and bungalows” on the land off Fountains Way, after winning unanimous approval from East Riding planning councillors.
The new development is designed to provide attractive detached family homes in a mix of three, four, and five bedroom designs, delivering much needed additional housing to the area.
Prices have not yet been set for the development but are likely to range from £300,000 to £550,000.

North Cave Parish Council has given its backing to the scheme, which will be the biggest development in the village in recent years.
Sue Malton, parish clerk, says: “We don’t get that many houses for sale in the village.
“The properties that are usually for sale are out of the price bracket of local people who have grown up in the village and out of the reach of first time buyers so there is a need for affordable homes.
“Unfortunately for a lot of villages close to the motorway, you get a lot of ‘weekenders’ who work in the cities and buy their houses because it’s close to the motorway but they don’t get involved in village life.
“We are hoping this development will help bring new life to the village.”
The development, which is near North Cave Cricket Club, will be named Cricketers’ Walk.
Duchy Homes says many plots will benefit from views across playing fields and the Yorkshire Wolds. Jim Cropper, Yorkshire managing director for Duchy Homes, says: "Duchy Homes is pleased to deliver a wide variety of new homes for sale and to rent on our new development at Cricketers’ Walk, North Cave.
"Properties for sale will include a mixture of 3-bed houses and bungalows together with 4-bed and 5-bed houses.

"North Cave complements our current portfolio of developments across East Yorkshire in Swanland, Hessle and hopefully soon to be joined by Walkington.”
The award-winning builder's other sites across Yorkshire, include Cygnet Gardens in nearby Swanlandand Roseberry Park in Hessle.
Recently crowned Best Residential Developer of the Year in the Yorkshire Residential Property Awards 2018, Duchy Homes says buyers can expect excellent build-quality with luxury fittings and generous, thoughtfully-designed interiors.
Work has started on site, with a show home and sales launch due in July 2019.
