An upmarket retailer has confirmed it will be opening at Beverley’s former Wilko store, which has been empty since 2015.
The White Company, which sells "impeccably stylish" products, principally in white, aims to open at the prime Toll Gavel property in the spring, in time for Easter.
The company, whose nearest store is in York, sells ranges including linens, home decor, dinnerware and furniture.
Sarah King, director of property at The White Company, says: “We are thrilled to be opening a store in Beverley.
“The White Company have been looking for a store for some time and this site provides the opportunity that's the right size and in the right location so that will can bring the full White Company offer to the town.

“As an attractive and vibrant market town Beverley attracts a demographic that is exceptionally suited to our brand.”
The White Company is the latest in a list of high-end retailers opening in the town, following quality brands such as Jo Malone, Jack Wills, Mint Velvet and Hotel Chocolat which have also opened in Beverley.
Beverley Mayor Councillor Bryan Pearson welcomed the news, saying: “I am pleased it is not another café, restaurant or café bar – we have 47 places in the town centre where you can get a pint, a cup of coffee or a sandwich.
“Apart from that, we have 14 charity shops and about five betting shops.
“We have to establish a good retail centre and The White Company might help to do that.”
The mayor says the property, which has been empty since Wilko relocated to the Flemingate Centre, has been crying out for a new lease of life.
He previously branded the vacant store “a blot on Beverley town centre”, prompting Wilko to fill the empty windows with stunning vinyl images of local landmarks.
The White Company was linked with the premises several months ago but would only say it had been looking at the premises.
The 2,700sqft ground floor Beverley store will have all The White Company departments, including The Little White Company.
The retailer says on its website: “We may be new to you, but we’ve been making impeccably stylish, beautifully designed products, principally in white, for more than 24 years.
“Think timeless style, not fast fashion, quality, not quantity, and an attention to detail in everything we do, from hand-finished bed linen to our second-to-none customer service.”

Leeds-based agents Brackenridge Hanson Tate took over the marketing of the vacant premises earlier this year.
Robin Hanson, director at the Leeds agents, says: "I am very pleased to confirm the letting to quality retailer The White Company, it will be an excellent addition to the retail offer in Beverley.
"They have committed to a long lease and they will spend a substantial amount of money shop-fitting it.
"It will portray an excellent image for that building. There was interest from two national retailers who were attracted to the affluent catchment area."
Brackenridge Hanson Tate marketed the option of making it into two units, with rents of £75,000 and £55,000 respectively, but offers came in from operators wanting the whole building.
BNP Paribas Real Estate had previously marketed it, advertising a £137,500 per year rental, with rates of £53,676 for the property.
