Private security firm offering to patrol town streets and respond to incidents from £3 a week

A private security firm is launching new services aimed at deterring criminals in a North Lincolnshire town.

Guaranteed Security offers a range of packages including daily foot and vehicle patrols, which will soon be available to give properties and neighbourhoods in Barton-Upon-Humber additional protection.

But bosses at the firm say they are not trying to replace the police and instead, are looking to provide extra security for residents.

Owner Mark Humphreys said: "We're here to aid the police, not replace them as some people have said. I'm ex-military, so I know how difficult it is to try and do a job when you're understaffed and underpaid.

"The police are always in demand, so we're an option that can provide extra security, from advice on how to make your property less vulnerable to visual deterrents in the form of patrols."

The company will begin operating in Barton in mid-April, and people can sign up for the services now.

Mr Humphreys said: "In Barton, we're rolling out the Angel option which has a range of different packages that vary from £3 to £6 per week.

"On the silver package, we can assess your building to see how it would be vulnerable to criminals and our personnel will provide a foot and vehicle patrol once every 24 hours to create a visual deternet.

"With the platinum package for £6 a week, we provide a fast response to any incidents."

The company's website says: "We continually hear about trespassing, burglary, violence, vandalism, anti-social behaviour and personal attacks. These incidents are very traumatic and can leave residents feeling threatened and vulnerable.

"The need to secure and protect our homes, property and family is becoming increasingly important to us all. We can help illuminate crime in your area with our residential street patrols. The scheme has proven to be hugely successful in many parts of the UK."

Guaranteed Security's rollout comes as Humberside Police announced that a new patrol team had been introduced in Barton to enable officers to reach rural parts of northern Lincolnshire quicker.

The team was launched in response to concerns from residents about the long distances officers from Grimsby and Scunthorpe had to travel to reach rural areas.

Police said they recognised rural communities have different needs to urban ones and hoped moving a patrol team closer to the rural towns would have a positive impact.

The police officers, based at Barton Police Station will offer 24-hour cover for the town as well as Immingham, Brigg and the surrounding villages.
