Nisa to add a further 1,000 Co-op lines to roll out to retailers

Scunthorpe delivered wholesaler specialist Nisa is about to roll out 1,000 further Co-op own brand products across its fresh and ambient range.

It will mean that more than 80 per cent of the Co-op range is available to Nisa symbol and Costcutter shopkeepers, following the former’s acquisition by the convenience retail giant last year.

The extension will be rolled out on a category-by-category basis throughout April and will help retailers meet the changing shopping missions of today’s consumer.

The trend is for customers to buy little and often, with a ‘meal for tonight’ becoming a more frequent motivator for visiting a convenience store than ever before.

Shoppers are also looking more toward quality own-brand products which deliver great value.

Nisa chief executive Ken Towle said: “A quality own brand range is of strategic importance for the modern convenience store as the customers shopping mission changes. Through this extended range we are giving our partners the opportunity to compete and capitalise on the sales driving potential of the Co-op’s award winning own brand range.

“Co-op own brand products have been enormously popular with our retailers and their shoppers.”

To aid retailers in meeting the needs of their customers, both Nisa and Costcutter - working closely with Co-op colleagues - have created guides which demonstrate the optimum and credible range of own-brand products to stock based on store size. The guides outline which products will enable them to maximise the Co-op own brand potential for their business.

“We absolutely delighted to be able to make these additional lines available to our partners,” said Darcy Willson-Rymer, chief executive of Costcutter. “By more than doubling the range available through this launch phase, we are providing fantastic opportunities for our retailers to drive additional footfall and basket spend while also enjoying some great margins.

Both Nisa and CSG will be introducing the extended range at their forthcoming trade exhibitions, with the lines available to order from April 1.

Nisa will showcase the Co-op own brand range in its fully merchandised 4,000 sq ft exhibition store demonstrating the optimum range benefits available to retailers at its major Stoneleigh event.
