Nisa bolsters key team supporting independent retailers

Nisa has expanded its expert retail team by more than 40 per cent in order to offer increased support to its independent retailers.

Eight additional retail development managers have been recruited into the business since the start of the year, to work directly with Nisa partners and help them to grow their businesses and ensure they get the most out of their relationship with the Scunthorpe delivered wholesale specialist.

Retail development managers act as the link between Nisa's Waldo Way head office and the branded store partners, which now number 1,300; working closely with key areas of the business including IT, logistics and operational teams.  Together they have more than 4,000 stores, with individual retailers who operate single or a low number of stores those helped the most, as larger groups tend to provide own in-house support.

Through regular visits, the team work to maximise retention and drive loyalty and sales, aiding shopkeepers to realise their potential and maximise any opportunities for growth.

Nisa retail director Nigel Gray, pictured above, said: “Nisa has recruited a really talented group of operators from across the convenience sector to build on its already strong field team which will allow for a much closer relationship to be built with its retailers.

“Since Nisa was acquired by the Co-op in May last year, it has focused on combining the best of both organisations to offer something new and exciting to independent retailers and commercial wholesalers across the UK - stability, the benefits of scale and a market leading own brand and fresh offer – all of which give Nisa retailers a real competitive advantage.

“Through the recruitment of this additional resource, Nisa can support retailers to grow their businesses in a more targeted and individual way by informing, involving, educating and embedding the key commercial priorities that the Nisa - Co-op relationship has been developing and strengthening.

“This is creating a truly compelling proposition and with the increased level of business support now available, Nisa can play an even more significant role in helping its retailers innovate, evolve and grow in what is an extremely competitive sector.”

It comes as Nisa helps drive sales ahead of St Patrick’s Day celebrations. With Ireland's national day now widely celebrated across the whole of the UK, a broad selection of lagers, ciders, stout and spirits are incorporated in the event including Carling, Fosters, Guinness, Caffrey’s, Murphys and Strongbow along with Jameson Irish Whiskey and Baileys Irish Cream.

Head of marketing at Nisa, Philippe Rondepierre said: “March is a busy month for retailers with events including Pancake Day and Mother’s Day as well as St Patrick’s Day, all providing opportunities to maximise sales.

“Our St Patrick’s Day deals include a broad selection of products across licensed which will enable Nisa partners to remain competitive and support them in capturing additional sales.”
