A new centre to help more people get into employment has opened in Scunthorpe town centre.

Social landlord Ongo and North Lindsey College have partnered together to offer local people extra training and employment support.

Both organisations have a commitment to host training and support to give people the best possible chance when it comes to securing work and progressing in their careers so it made sense to have a joined up approach.

Ongo Recruitment has also moved into the building, where they will continue to provide temporary and permanent recruitment as well as apprenticeships.

The new centre was officially opened on Friday

North Lindsey College has a team based there delivering a range of employability skills and training courses.

Councillor John Briggs, mayor of North Lincolnshire, officially opened the event on Friday (September 14) at the Cole Street office in Scunthorpe.

Jan Williams, head of community investment, said: "We're really excited to officially partner with North Lindsey College. It will mean we're able to offer support and training to even more local people, and by working together, we can pool our skills and resources to ensure our customers receive the best services to meet their needs.

"Our new building in Cole Street is fantastic, providing more space for training and delivering recruitment and employment support services."
