Motorhome giant adds van conversions as expansion continues

Grimsby’s Auto-Trail is to add van conversions to its manufacturing portfolio as it rolls out a new range for imported Italian motorhome marque Roller Team.
The recently expanded Europarc business, an employer of 270 in the town, will complete the work on two models for its sister company within the French-owned Trigano Group.
Production will take place alongside the luxury vehicles in its own Tribute and V-Line range, as it looks to build on a 42 per cent share of new motorhome sales in the UK.
Marketing manager Russell Hensman said: “Roller Team is hitting the season ahead on a real high. We’ve literally broadened our appeal, offering unparalleled specification at the very keenest of prices.”
Known as the Toleno L and Toleno R, it represents the company’s first venture into the increasingly popular van conversion sector, with prices starting at £39,995.
The Toleno L is a two-berth end lounge model offering extra-long settees that convert to single beds or a double, while the Toleno R is a true four-berth, thanks to a two rear double bed configuration that also leaves plenty of living space. Both are based on Fiat’s 5.99m long Ducato.
Having moved from Immingham, the Europarc base has been through two huge phases of expansion since Prince Michael of Kent drove the first vehicle off the Grimsby production line.
It now operates across 16,000 sq m, triple that given the royal seal of approval in 2002.
The latest multi-million pound expansion, completed in 2016, made it the largest dedicated motorhome manufacturer in the UK, with capacity for 3,000 vehicles a year.

A further five motorhome assemblers are in the process of being recruited.
Mr Hensman said building strong sales partnerships was also vital.
“Key to our success is our excellent team of enthusiastic dealers, a network that has grown to 23 this season,” he said. “It is something that’s critical for the success of any brand.”
An all-new compact A-class Pegaso 590 has also been added, which will be distributed by Auto-Trail. Described as “playing the compact trump card,” the 6m long addition includes a front lounge, drop-down overcab double bed, centre kitchen and washroom across the rear.
