Motordepot set to create up to 100 jobs in Goole with new vehicle centre

By Hull Daily Mail | Posted: 8 May 2018

Up to 100 jobs are expected to be created in Goole as Motordepot unveils plans for a major new vehicle preparation centre.

The centre will be able to hold around 500 vehicles, and include 40 ramps, five MOT stations and state-of-the-art photography suites.

Motordepot anticipates the new venture will create up to 100 jobs, with salaries for qualified technicians in the region of £35,000 a year.

Stephen Butterley, managing director at Motordepot, said: “We have been looking for suitable locations for some time and the site in Goole was perfect in every way.

“Logistically it made sense - with great motorway access that’s important for distribution to our sites across the UK, but equally important is the large catchment area for attracting people with the necessary skills and attributes that we’re going to need.

“With OTE earnings for qualified technicians in the region of £35,000 we’re expecting to be able to fill all the available roles quite quickly and we’re hoping people in the area will be excited by the opportunities that working for Motordepot can offer them."

The new centre will be located on a four-acre site in New Potter Grange Road in Goole. It will also include onsite paint facilities and a 30-bay valeting area.

After extensive expansion in recent years, Motordepot confirmed further sites are planned throughout 2018/19, including the imminent opening of a new 75,000sq ft vehicle showroom in Barnsley.

Motordepot is confident that vehicle sales will exceed 25,000 during the course of this year, creating the demand for the additional support that the preparation centre in Goole will provide.

The centre will focus entirely on ensuring all vehicles are mechanically and aesthetically prepared to the highest standards, before being delivered directly to the retail showrooms.

Motordepot also recently announced it will be the main shirt sponsor of Hull KR in 2019

The centre will operate seven days per week and is capable of handling around 150 vehicles per day.

Recruitment is already underway for vehicle technicians and mechanics, MOT testers, paint specialists and valet team members, as well as the necessary administration and logistics posts that will be created once open.
