Inside the newest bar to open in Newland Avenue - where cocktails are as quirky as the venue

These pictures show exactly what Newland Avenue's newest bar looks like - and it's already had a lot of attention.

Hang Out has replaced Harringtons in Newland Avenue, and owners say it's a "social hub" for people in and around the city, offering food, drink and plenty of entertainment.

Parents Andrei and Ana-Maria Dumitru own the bar and hope that their new venture will be a great success, and are encouraging as many people to visit as possible.

And it's already proving very popular, with more than 200 people flocking to the new venue on its launch night on Saturday, February 2.

Quirky cocktails, along with beer wine, hot and soft drinks are all available, along with pub grub and themed party nights.

The couple has redecorated the interior of the building throughout, and have created a new bar area, along with painting slogans and unique artwork on the walls, including a piece by Banksy.

"I have always worked in hospitality and I'm really passionate about providing personalised and perfect customer service, and have been working in Hull as a barman for the past four years," said Mr Dumitru,  30.

"I was in London for six months before that, but a friend recommended Hull to me instead, so I came up and stayed with him, and three days later came back with a suitcase and all my stuff because I just loved it so much, and I haven't looked back since.

"I love the Hull accent and think that everyone is just so friendly with great values and a great culture, so when I saw that this building that is now our bar was up for rent in December, I spoke about turning it in to 'Hang Out' with my wife, and we then priced it up and decided to go for it.

"The launch of the bar went really well and from today we will also be providing pub grub as well as cocktails and drinks, including burgers, hotdogs, skewers, loaded chips and nachos, and we will be using purely local suppliers for all our food and drink, so local butchers, greengrocers and we have beers from Atom brewery.

"We want the bar to be a social hub for the area where people can come in to relax and catch up, as well as eat, drink and have a dance in the evening, and we hope to bring our European hospitality to Hull through going the extra mile and providing table service and just generally making sure people are enjoying themselves."

Hang Out is open throughout the week from 1pm to 12.30am and is pet and child friendly, and is set to offer themed nights every weekend, with an 80s night running this Saturday, February 9.
