Huge Poundland store in Beverley will close in days

One of Beverley's biggest discount stores is to close in less than a fortnight.

Poundland at Beverley Retail Park will shut its doors for the final time next weekend and in a bid to clear stock, the retailer has made a significant change from their normal bargain prices.

If £1 was too much, the store has put on a 50 per cent sale for shoppers in an attempt to clear the shelves.

A spokesman for the company has confirmed the impending closure that will happen on Saturday, March 23.

Despite the closure of Beverley's biggest Poundland store, the town's other shop in Flemingate will remain open, as will Hull branches in the Prospect Centre, Hessle Road, Holderness Road and at North Point Shopping Centre.

Earlier this year, the retailer was slammed for selling a gift of "nothing" as part of its Valentine's Day range.

The novelty gift was plastic packaging in a heart shape that contained nothing more than fresh air with the strap-line "exactly what you wished for".

The company defended it was "just a bit of fun" but many customers and environmental campaigners were left fuming.

Customers have just 12 days to head to the store near Morrisons in Beverley to pick up a last-minute bargain.
