Hair salon opening makes owners' dream come true

Friends who have always dreamed of having their own salon have seen that wish come true.

Kellie Roffee and Zara Twinning have opened The House of Hair and Beauty on Victoria Street and aim to offer affordable hair cuts, extensions and colourings for all customers.

Kellie said: "I've always wanted to be a hairdresser, so it's wonderful this has finally happened. I went back to college to retrain as a hairdresser and met Zara who was already a hairdresser while there."

"I completed my college course in September, and we decided to go for our dream and open a salon together. It's been stressful to get everything ready, but we're really happy we're ready to open now."

Zara has eight years' experience as a hairdresser.

They will be offering ladies’ hairdressing and cuts for men and children, as well as a range of beauty treatments.

The newly-renovated shop in Grimsby will open from 9am to 5.30pm on Monday and Tuesday, 9am to 6pm on Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday, and 9am to 8pm on Friday.

"We wanted hours that let people who are working late still come in, rather than closing early as many do," Zara added.

"We're keen to get involved in charity work in the community, and already have a few events planned for Foresight and Women's Aid."

A fun day was held on Saturday, with fairytale characters and face-painting to encourage customers of all ages to come in and try their services for the first time.
