Cast your vote for Scuthorpe's best small business as finalists for annual awards are revealed

By Scunthorpe Telegraph | Posted: 21 Nov 2018

Voting has opened to name Scunthorpe's best small business.

The town's MP Nic Dakin has revealed the finalists who will be competing for the top prizes in his annual Small Business Awards.

More than 50 nominated restaurants, bakeries and market stalls have been whittled down to the final 18, and the public can now cast their vote for who they think deserves to be crowned the winner of each category.

Mr Dakin said: "Small businesses play a vital role in our community and our country. Not only are they the backbone of our economy, they contribute a huge amount in shaping our community.

"I always enjoy visiting small businesses and learning more about the range of things that are going on.

"It has been really exciting, a big range of businesses have been nominated, including restaurants, bakeries and slimming clubs, demonstrating the huge range of talented businesses we've got locally.

"We had hundreds of nominations for 55 small businesses so go online and vote for your favourite businesses locally now. You've got until November 28 to get your votes in."

Mr Dakin's local awards come in the run-up to Small Business Saturday, which is a national initiative held on the first Saturday in December each year. It was launched to encourage people to shop in and support their local businesses.
