A rising star at one of the region’s biggest house builders has been hailed as one of the 30 best employees under the age of 30.

Harry Fawcett, a trainee quantity surveyor at Beal Homes, started out at the business during a school work placement.

He went on to complete a voluntary summer stint at Beal, before his talent led to the company creating a new position specially for him.

Still aged just 19, Harry has been earmarked as a rising star in the Top 30 Under 30 list, which recognises the best young employees across Hull & East Yorkshire.

Harry said: “I’m incredibly proud to be named as one of the Hull and Humber Top 30 Under 30 best young employees.

“Since joining Beal Homes I’ve learned so much about the house building industry and I’m putting that knowledge to good use while studying for my degree.

“I’m so grateful to Beal for all their support of my development and progression and I look forward to a long and happy career with them.”

Recognising his early potential, Beal created a trainee quantity surveyor position for Harry and enrolled him in a Construction and Built Environment course at Hull College.

An integral part of the Beal technical team, Harry is now responsible for providing and monitoring costs in excess of £35m as lead quantity surveyor at Beal’s flagship West Hill development in Willerby.

Harry is doing all of this while at the same time studying for a surveying degree.

Lee Carratt, human resources manager at Beal Homes, said: “It was obvious early on that Harry showed a lot of potential and we knew that if Beal did not snap him up, one of our competitors certainly would.

“The company has experienced rapid growth in the number of new homes we build in the last couple of years, resulting in an increased workload which would have challenged the most experienced of quantity surveyors…

“…Since Harry joined us he’s taken this in his stride, which for someone aged just 19 is an incredible achievement.”

Now in its second year, the Top 30 Under 30 awards give companies across the Humber region the opportunity to highlight and celebrate their emerging talent by nominating star employees.
