North Lincolnshire Council is inviting women who are current or aspiring business leaders to attend the Women in Business networking event on Friday 13 October at Humber UTC (University Technical College) from 8am to 10am.
It is an opportunity for women who would like to be in higher level business roles or aspire to be the best they can be, to network with like-minded women.
There will be two inspirational speakers at the event who will share their success stories.
Jean Stewart will talk about her 28 years' experience as a business advisor working with businesses, at the event. She has earned a reputation for being an honest, straight-forward and to-the-point business consultant and mentor. Her first book, ‘How to Make Your Presentations More Memorable’, is unique in that it provides a great deal of information on how to run a successful presentation. Hilarious, engaging and risqué are just a few of the ways Jean has been described by people who have attended events she has spoken at.
Ness Knight is a record-breaking explorer and endurance adventurer who became the first female in history to swim the Thames River in 2013. Ness has traversed some of the most diverse terrain in all corners of the world, overcoming huge obstacles and extreme conditions in remote environments. She has embarked on a diverse collection of expeditions, including stand up paddle boarding over 1,000 miles down the Missouri River, the longest stand up paddle board journey by any female. She cycled 2,000 miles solo across the USA. In 2013 she ran 14 marathons in 15 days, having just completed her Thames River swim.
Cllr Rob Waltham, leader of North Lincolnshire Council, said: “Nationally there is a lack of females in business, especially in leadership roles so this networking event is an ideal opportunity to share best practice and tips from successful women. As there will be other like-minded women, it is a perfect chance to network and link in with other women in business.
“We hope the event will raise aspirations and encourage those attending to achieve to the best of their ability. There are many successful women in business and across all sectors, and they should be celebrated for their achievements.
“Whether you are currently in a business role, are an entrepreneur or would simply like to hear Jean Stewart’s and Ness Knight’s stories, I’d encourage you to book a place on the event.”
Arrival is for 7.30am ready to start at 8am. Refreshments will be provided.
There is limited free parking on-site but there are car parks nearby with your first two hours parking free.
