Construction work starts on new £1.5m road link-up to A1079
The £1.5 million contract is being undertaken by Hewlett Civil Engineering and the project is being managed by Rex Proctor & Partners.
The scope of works, which will take six months to complete, consists of enabling works and necessary infrastructure works in preparation for 300m of access/spine road and a new roundabout located on the A1079, which will form the main access to the Swift site.
Steve Wilson, project manager from Hewlett, said: "Already we are making real progress, and I am delighted to report this project remains within budget, on time and will deliver major benefits to the area.
"In particular for the local residents of Cottingham, for whom it will reduce traffic and improve conditions by removing HGV traffic from the village.
"This is a significant highways restructure that is fundamental to the future of Swift and its existing manufacturing facility. We are thrilled to have the contract."
