Fears over new superstore plan

Saturday, February 20, 2010, 06:30

A DISCOUNT supermarket chain has submitted an application for a store in Louth.

Lidl, which originated in Germany and now has stores across Europe, wants to provide a store at the Louth Tractors site on Fairfield Industrial estate.

Supermarket bosses have submitted an environmental impact assessment as well as a planning application for a food store and car park with cycle bay.

If approved by East Lindsey planners, the store could create between 25 and 30 full and part-time jobs.

The 'out of town' store has received objections from Keep Louth Special pressure group.

Lidl will be consulting with the public over the plans and is holding a public exhibition at the Salvation Army Centre in Church Street on Thursday, March 4 from 11am to 7pm for members of the public to view the plans.

Read reaction to the proposals in today's Grimsby Telegraph.
